Ciprofloxacin Eye Drops 0.3% 10ml is a prescription medication primarily used to treat bacterial infections of the eye, such as conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, and other external eye infections caused by susceptible bacteria. The active ingredient, ciprofloxacin, is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme essential for bacterial DNA replication, leading to the death of the bacteria.
Indications: Ciprofloxacin Eye Drops are indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye, including conjunctivitis (inflammation of the conjunctiva), corneal ulcers, and other superficial ocular infections. It is also used to prevent and treat eye infections following eye surgery or injury.
Dosage and Administration: The usual dosage for adults is 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) every 2 hours during the first two days, followed by 1 to 2 drops every 4 hours for the next 5 days, depending on the severity of the infection. For children, the dosage may vary, and it is essential to follow the healthcare provider's instructions. The eye drops should be instilled directly into the affected eye, and hands should be washed before and after use to avoid contamination.
Warnings and Precautions:
Storage: Ciprofloxacin Eye Drops should be stored at room temperature, away from light, and out of reach of children. The bottle should be tightly closed when not in use, and it should be discarded 28 days after opening, even if some solution remains.
