Vitamin B6 Injection COMPOSITION: It is a sterile solution of pyridoxine hydrochloride (VB6) in water for injection. Each ampoule contains VB6 100mg. INDICATION: Pyridoxine is used in the treatment and prevention of pyridoxine deficiency states. Pyridoxine has been used in the treatment of sideroblastic anemias and certain metabolic disorders, also been used to treat seizures due to hereditary syndromes of pyridoxine deficiency or dependency in infants. Pyridoxine has also been tried in a wide variety of other disorders, including the treatment of depression and other symptoms associated with the premenstrual syndrome. ADVERSE EFFECTS AND PRECAUTIONS: Long-term administration of large doses of pyridoxine is associated with the development of severe peripheral neuropathies. Pyridoxine reduces the effects of levodopa, but this does not occur if a dopa decarboxylase inhibitor is also given. ADMINISTRATION: Pyridoxine may be administered by the intramuscular route, and also by intravenous or subcutaneous routes. Doses of 50-100mg daily in divided doses have been recommended.
