COMPOSITION: VITAMIN B12 Injection is a sterile solution of Cyanocobalamin in Water for Injections Containing. This agent is pinkish to red supernatant light. Each ampoule contains VB12 1mg. ACTION: Vit-B12 water-solution vitamin, occurs in the body mainly as methylcobalamin (mecobalamin) and as adenosylcobalamin (cobamamide) and hydroxocobalamin. Mecobalamin and cobamamide act as coenzymes in nucleic acid synthesis. Mecobalamin is also closely involved with folic acid in several important metabolic pathways. INDICATION: Used in the treatment and prevention of vitamin B12 deficiency. It is the drug of choice as it binds more firmly to plasma proteins and is retained in the body longer. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: In doses of 250 to 1000 ug intramuscularly on alternate day for 1 to 2 weeks, then 250ug weekly until the blood count returns to normal. ADVERSE EFFECT: Allergic hypersensitivity reactions have occurred rarely following the administration of the vitamin B12 compounds cyanocobalamin and hydroxocobalamin. PRESENTATION: Ampoule of 2ml-box of 10 ampoules. Ampoule of 2ml-box of 100 ampoules. STORAGE: At a temperature not exceeding 25ºC in well-closed containers. Protect from light. VALIDITY: 3 years.
